Precision Engineered Wear Solutions
Precision-engineered composite particles — each containing a single diamond crystal encased in a metallic or cermet matrix. Unmatched consistency, flexibility, and performance across a wide range of hardfacing technologies.

What Are Diamond Pellets?
Each pellet is built around a single diamond grain — selected, graded, and tested to the highest standards — then coated in a metallic powder blend and sintered under controlled conditions. The result is a highly spherical, narrow-distribution pellet that delivers predictable, repeatable performance in your application.

Premium Diamond Quality
Every diamond used in FAST pellets undergoes a rigorous multi-stage qualification process before it ever enters production.
Diamonds are selected for their cubo-octahedral shape using vibrating table sorting, maximising sphericity and consistent packing behaviour.
Sieving removes oversized and undersized grains, producing a tight size distribution that directly translates into uniform pellet geometry.
Raman spectrometry is used to select diamonds with the highest crystalline purity and lowest graphitisation, ensuring thermal stability and consistent hardness.
Low catalyst content is verified to confirm diamonds are harder and thermally more stable than lower-grade alternatives.
Each diamond grade is mechanically evaluated by counting the number of crushing cycles required to break down 50% of the sample. This guarantees the best mechanical performance on the market.

Metallic Matrix Options
The most widely used formulation, offering the highest tribological performance for wear and cutting applications.
Compatible with a broader range of coating processes, with a more sustainable profile than cobalt-based blends.
A specially developed non-magnetic blend for directional drilling applications, where magnetic interference must be minimised.
Sintering Process
To produce hard, dense pellets, FAST sinters all products by heat treatment under controlled atmosphere. The process includes de-waxing followed by consolidation and densification.
Sintering is conducted under hydrogen, which simultaneously protects the diamond crystals and deoxidises the metallic powders. FAST's in-house laboratory furnace enables continuous process development and optimisation.
Sizes and Granulometry
All standard sizes are available from stock. Tailor-made sizes are available up to 1000 µm and beyond.

All pellets exhibit a narrow size distribution and highly spherical morphology, verified by both optical and sieve analysis methods.
Application-Specific Pellets
Premium synthetic or natural diamond for the most demanding formations.
Cubic Boron Nitride pellets for applications where diamond reactivity is a concern.
Lower-cost options for wear protection without sacrificing process compatibility.
B₄C pellets for gamma-gamma tool radiation shielding in Measurement While Drilling tools.
Non-magnetic pellets protecting directional drilling electronics from magnetic interference.
Developed as a direct replacement for W₂C pellets across existing coating processes.
AMAG Pellets
The AMAG pellet range is engineered specifically for directional drilling, where even small magnetic signatures can compromise tool accuracy. FAST achieves this through a three-stage process:
AMAG pellets remain randomly orientated in a magnetic field, whereas conventional pellets align themselves with it — a critical distinction for MWD and LWD tool integrity.

Compatible With All Hardfacing Technologies
FAST pellets are designed to work across all major coating and welding technologies currently in use globally.
Performance Benchmark
In comparative laser cladding wear testing, a diamond coating at just 7% diamond content reduced wear by a factor of 2× compared to spherical tungsten carbide coating, and by a factor of 5× compared to dendritic tungsten carbide.
Diamond pellets deliver disproportionate performance gains even at modest concentrations.
